I do not know who you are and I know I will not change your mind and I will not attempt to. I am writing this in response to a “hate mail” that you wrote to an atheist website. I agree that no extremists can be taken seriously, that includes Christian extremists. I do not know if I agree with the content posted on the website you commented on, it was showed to me by a friend, but I would like to clarify a few things about atheism. I made a very educated choice to become atheist; it was not something I simply decided on a whim. It took several years and I found that science was the most logical way to explain the universe. I was a Christian for several years and was very devoted. I still respect the bible as a teacher and a history book but do not believe its more spiritual ideas. I believe Jesus was a wonderful man who gave people hope, but I do not believe he was the son of “God” if he exists. I think it is wonderful that you believe in something that gives you hope, and, hopefully, helps you lead a more productive, happy life. I am sorry that you were offended by this particular website, however I discourage writing such hateful things to anyone, in spite of their creed. Please do not lump all atheists together, just as I do not lump all Christians together. Though you were offended, keep in mind that atheists who felt oppressed in a dominantly Christian society and are often offended by jokes directed at them created this type of website. Please remember the spirit of your religion and be kind to all regardless of personal beliefs.
